BOARD of MISSIONS COLLECTION Thank you to everyone who donated household and personal items during the month of May for Passageways of Wichita. The generosity is greatly appreciated! For June we are collecting non-perishable food items for the McPherson Food Bank.
MISSIONARY PARTNERSHIP Our Together-In-Mission partners – Rev. Michael and Shanna Hageman – are now in Tanzania. If you’d like to give to supporting the Hageman’s and the Lord’s mission to Tanzania, “Together-In-Mission” offering envelopes can be found on the shelf in the narthex that you can use in giving your support through the Sunday morning offering. Make checks payable to “Immanuel Lutheran Church” and the church will then forward these offerings to the Office of International Mission each quarter.
MOWING HELPA sign-up is posted on the bulletin board by the church office for mowing the church yard and/or the cemetery. All help is appreciated!
MY DEVOTIONS for June through August can be found in the narthex. These devotionals are great for our grade school and middle school youth in helping them grow in their faith and connecting Jesus to their lives.
STEWARDSHIP THOUGHT“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you” (Matthew 28:19-20). Behold the threefold Name of God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We are baptized into this Name. We have been made a part of God’s family. Now, we are called to live in harmony with our new family, to be godly and live in God’s image. As God is loving, kind and generous, so are we all called to be.
LIFE QUOTE“If we want to save more Trinitarian-valued lives, then we need to knock a Humpty Dumpty way of thinking about words off the wall. We need to speak of the reality behind the word ‘abortion’ and use such a time as this to speak of the reality behind the Word made flesh to dwell among us and in us and for us. Youhave been called for such a time as this.” Rev. Dr. James I. Lamb, former Executive Director of Lutherans For Life.A Life Quote from Lutherans For Life.
JUNE CALENDAR and NOTES can be found on the stand in the narthex.
PEACEMAKER MOMENT“When someone has disappointed or offended me, my natural tendency is to come at them with ‘the law,’ lecturing them about what they have done wrong and what they should now do to make things right. This approach generally makes people defensive and reluctant to admit their wrongs, which makes a conflict worse. … Instead of coming at them with the law, I am learning to bring them the gospel. In other words, rather than dwelling on what people should do or have failed to do, I am learning to focus primarily on what God has done and is doing for them through Christ.” Taken from “The Peacemaker: A Biblical Guide to Resolving Personal Conflict” by Ken Sande, pp. 162-163.

LIVESTREAM HELP- We are needing to train a third person on live streaming for Sunday Adult Bible Study and Worship service time. Please contact Brent for details. This would involve setting up the iPad, logging onto Facebook and our church website, copying and pasting some links, maybe adjusting some volumes during the worship service periodically. We would also show you how to set up the video camera and amplifier for use with the Fellowship Hall TV / Sound System.
PRIVATE CONFESSION & ABSOLUTION- Pastor Slater will be available in his office, for any individuals who would like to have private Confession and Absolution in preparation for receiving Holy Communion, from 9:00am to Noon, each Saturday prior to the Sundays in which the Lord’s Supper will be celebrated. This is of course voluntary and not required for receiving Communion. Just an opportunity to further prepare your heart and mind for anyone who might so desire. Any questions, please let Pastor know.
