SUNDAY SCHOOL (9:30-10:15 am). The adult class is wrapping up a study of the Augsburg Confession. Beginning September 13th we will begin a look at the book of Revelation. The children and youth classes will also begin meeting again on September 13th.
MISSIONARY PARTNERSHIP. Our Together-In-Mission partners – Rev. Michael and Shanna Hageman – are now in Tanzania. If you’d like to give to supporting the Hageman’s and the Lord’s mission to Tanzania, “Together-In-Mission” offering envelopes can be found on the shelf in the narthex that you can use in giving your support through the Sunday morning offering. Make checks payable to “Immanuel Lutheran Church” and the church will then forward these offerings to the Office of International Mission each quarter.
BOARD of MISSIONS COLLECTION. For August we are collecting non-perishable food items for a local food bank! Please place your donations in the bin located by the church office. Thanks!
WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY. The next book for our Women’s Bible Study is “Everlasting” by Christina Hergenrader and is on the Psalms. This study will be held at 6:30 pm on Wednesdays beginning September 9th. Please contact either Julie Vogts or Caley Moddelmog with any questions.
HAGEMAN MISSIONARY UPDATE. Here’s a quick update from their latest newsletter: “We are happy to finally be writing you from our home in Shinyanga, Tanzania after three months of Swahili training in Iringa. Our church partners here with the South East of Lake Victoria Diocese found us a lovely rental home right by the seminary. We do not currently have a car, so the proximity to work and social life is a great blessing. We also have room for our daughters to visit along with anyone else who would like to come and see how the Lord is working in this part of the world. Speaking of our daughters, our youngest, Kiera, was engaged to her boyfriend Aden Sheldon on the 4th of July. They plan to be married next summer after her graduation from the University of Kansas … Kiera will be visiting us during the first week of August and we also appreciate your prayers for her safe travel. The seminary here in Shinyanga is going on summer break at the end of this week. Many seminarians are headed home to see their families We pray travel mercies for all of them as well. We look forward to the fall semester’s beginning in late September.” ~ Rev. Michael and Shanna Hageman

The world really is a scary place, with natural disasters, disease, terrorism and a hundred other things. But where do we place our hope, our trust, our vision? Where do we look for aid and comfort? When Peter’s eyes were on the Lord, he had confidence. When he turned to look at his problems and took his eyes off the Lord, he fell apart. Sometimes God’s call to support the work of His church with our offerings makes us nervous. But put your eyes back on your Lord, trust Him, follow His Word and all really will be well.

LIVESTREAM HELP - We are needing to train a third person on live streaming for Sunday Adult Bible Study and Worship service time. Please contact Brent for details. This would involve setting up the iPad, logging onto Facebook and our church website, copying and pasting some links, maybe adjusting some volumes during the worship service periodically. We would also show you how to set up the video camera and amplifier for use with the Fellowship Hall TV / Sound System.
PRIVATE CONFESSION & ABSOLUTION - Pastor Slater will be available in his office, for any individuals who would like to have private Confession and Absolution in preparation for receiving Holy Communion, from 9:00am to Noon, each Saturday prior to the Sundays in which the Lord’s Supper will be celebrated. This is of course voluntary and not required for receiving Communion. Just an opportunity to further prepare your heart and mind for anyone who might so desire. Any questions, please let Pastor know.
