SUNDAY SCHOOL (9:30-10:15) am) The adult class is studying the Augsburg Confession. The children and youth classes will not be meeting again until September.

BOARD of MISSIONS COLLECTION For the month of May we are collecting household and personal items for Passageways of Wichita. Passageways is a non-profit organization founded by Lutherans which seeks to provide shelter, food, hope, and a new mission for veterans who have been homeless. A list of needed household and personal items that are needed can be found on the bulletin board above the donation box located by the church office. Thanks for any help you are able to give!

MISSIONARY PARTNERSHIP Our Together-In-Mission partners – Rev. Michael and Shanna Hageman – are now in Tanzania. If you’d like to give to supporting the Hageman’s and the Lord’s mission to Tanzania, “Together-In-Mission” offering envelopes can be found on the shelf in the narthex that you can use in giving your support through the Sunday morning offering. Make checks payable to “Immanuel Lutheran Church” and the church will then forward these offerings to the Office of International Mission each quarter.

THEOLOGY ON TAP is this evening at Three Rings Brewery in McPherson. Pastor Dumperth of Grace/McPherson leads this month’s study.

MAILBOXES All members/families of Immanuel have a mailbox assigned to them and so please be sure to check your mailbox on occasion. The mailboxes are in the fellowship hall by the coat rack and you can determine which box is yours by looking on the laminated sheets that are located with the mailboxes.

MOWING HELP A sign-up is posted on the bulletin board by the church office for mowing the church yard and/or the cemetery. All help is appreciated!

MY DEVOTIONS for June through August can be found in the narthex. These devotionals are great for our grade school and middle school youth in helping them grow in their faith and connecting Jesus to their lives.

STEWARDSHIP THOUGHT “When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place” (Acts 2:1). Pentecost is the Old Testament harvest festival, taking place around the time when the wheat and oats are ready to be brought in. Of course, this was an image and foreshadowing of the great harvest of humankind that God means to carry out through the preaching of His Word. God gives the seed, and God brings about the harvest. From first to last, in things temporal and things eternal, we stand only by His grace.

LIFE QUOTE “In grief, the world often feels empty. The absence of loved ones weighs heavily, leaving our days feeling hollow and incomplete without their presence. And yet, Scripture tells us that in these moments of deep sorrow, God draws near. He does not stand at a distance, waiting for us to be strong enough to move on with our life. He comes to us, holds us in our brokenness, and carries us when we cannot stand.” Rev. M.L. Smith, Director of International Missions of Lutheran Church–Canada (LCC). A Life Quote from Lutherans For Life.

PEACEMAKER MOMENT “Although is it often best simply to overlook the sins of others, there will be times when doing so only prolongs alienation and encourages them to continue acting in a hurtful manner. If you know that someone has something against you, go to that person and talk about it as soon as possible. Similarly, if someone’s sins are dishonoring God, damaging your relationship, hurting others, or hurting that person, one of the most loving and helpful things you can do is go and help him or her see the need for change. With God’s grace and the right words (including your own confession), such a conversation will often lead to restored peace and stronger relationships.” Taken from “The Peacemaker: A Biblical Guide to Resolving Personal Conflict” by Ken Sande, p. 160.

Prayer Requests

+ For our brothers and sisters who face persecution for faith in Christ.

+ For missionaries Michael and Shanna Hageman as they serve in Tanzania.

+ For those who battle addictions and/or are incarcerated, that they may know the peace and hope that only Jesus can give.

LIVESTREAM HELP - We are needing to train a third person on live streaming for Sunday Adult Bible Study and Worship service time. Please contact Brent for details. This would involve setting up the iPad, logging onto Facebook and our church website, copying and pasting some links, maybe adjusting some volumes during the worship service periodically. We would also show you how to set up the video camera and amplifier for use with the Fellowship Hall TV / Sound System.

PRIVATE CONFESSION & ABSOLUTION - Pastor Slater will be available in his office, for any individuals who would like to have private Confession and Absolution in preparation for receiving Holy Communion, from 9:00am to Noon, each Saturday prior to the Sundays in which the Lord’s Supper will be celebrated. This is of course voluntary and not required for receiving Communion. Just an opportunity to further prepare your heart and mind for anyone who might so desire. Any questions, please let Pastor know.
