SUNDAY SCHOOL (9:30-10:15 am). The adult class is beginning a look at the book of Revelation. The children and youth classes (Pre-K through high school) are also back to meeting each Sunday.
WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY. It’s not too late to join. The study is on the Psalms using the book “Everlasting” by Christina Hergenrader and meets each Wednesday from 6:30-7:30 pm with fellowship after for those able to stay. Please contact either Julie Vogts or Caley Moddelmog with any questions.
MISSIONARY PARTNERSHIP. If you’d like to give in support of our Together-In-Mission partners, Rev. Michael and Shanna Hageman, and the Lord’s mission to Tanzania, “Together-In-Mission” offering envelopes can be found on the shelf in the narthex for giving your support through the Sunday morning offering. Make checks payable to “Immanuel Lutheran Church” and the church will then forward these offerings each quarter.
BOARD of MISSIONS COLLECTION. For September we are collecting non-perishable food items for the McPherson food bank. Please place your donations in the bin located by the church office. Thanks!
SPECIAL VOTERS’ MEETING will be held immediately after this morning’s Service of the Word with two items on the agenda. First, Pastor and the Board of Elders are proposing that the Board of Elders be expanded to four members (from three). This would be a bylaw change and such changes must be read at one Voters’ meeting and then voted on at the next. So we will be discussing this change at the special Voters’ meeting and then vote on it at the regular Voters’ meeting in October. The second item for the special meeting is to set an amount for the congregation to give to the congregation of Christ Lutheran Church of Manhattan as they continue revitalizing the ministry there. In July we voted to support Christ/Manhattan but no specific amount was set.
OUR ANNUAL CHILI COOK-OFF is this afternoon beginning at 4:30 pm. Feel free to bring a guest and a side dish to share if you would like.
THANK YOU’S. In July the Board of Missions along with the children of Vacation Bible School collected school supplies for local schools. Here are two of the ‘thank you’s’ we received from those schools:
“Thank you so much for your generous gift of school supplies for the students of Hesston Elementary. We are so grateful you think of us each year. Your donation blesses many students now and throughout the year!”
“Thank you so much for the school supplies you collected for MES (Moundridge Elementary School). Your continued support means so much to us and our students! Thank you!”

LWML SUNDAY will be observed next Sunday as we thank the Lord for all the work He has done through the ladies of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) both locally and around the world.
CHICKEN NOODLE DINNER. This annual dinner, hosted by the ladies of the LWML for the whole congregation, will be held Sunday, October 11th, following the morning’s Service. Come and enjoy a great meal and fellowship!
THEOLOGY ON TAP will be this evening from 6-7:30 pm at Three Rings Brewery in McPherson. Pastor Slater leads this month’s discussion on the Apostles’ Creed using Luther’s Large Catechism.

STEWARDSHIP THOUGHT. “But if we say, ‘From man,’ we are afraid of the crowd...” (Matt. 21:26) Foolish Pharisees! They fear men more than God and so they miss out on the great blessing of knowing Jesus and His love. All our sins are like this: we fear something more than we fear God. How foolish! Just think of the blessings we miss out on whenever we place our fear or trust in something other than God.

+ For our brothers and sisters who face persecution for faith in Christ.
+ For missionaries Michael and Shanna Hageman as they serve in Tanzania.
+ For those who battle addictions and/or are incarcerated, that they may know the peace and hope that only Jesus gives.
LIVESTREAM HELP - We are needing to train a third person on live streaming for Sunday Adult Bible Study and Worship service time. Please contact Brent for details. This would involve setting up the iPad, logging onto Facebook and our church website, copying and pasting some links, maybe adjusting some volumes during the worship service periodically. We would also show you how to set up the video camera and amplifier for use with the Fellowship Hall TV / Sound System.
PRIVATE CONFESSION & ABSOLUTION - Pastor Slater will be available in his office, for any individuals who would like to have private Confession and Absolution in preparation for receiving Holy Communion, from 9:00am to Noon, each Saturday prior to the Sundays in which the Lord’s Supper will be celebrated. This is of course voluntary and not required for receiving Communion. Just an opportunity to further prepare your heart and mind for anyone who might so desire. Any questions, please let Pastor know.
