SUNDAY SCHOOL - During the Sunday School hour (9:30-10:15 am) the adult class is wrapping up an evangelism study: “Every One His Witness” as we learn how to share our faith with those whom the Lord places in our lives. On September 7th we will begin a study on the Augsburg Confession. In the meantime we will be looking at a few of the “3:16” verses of the Bible. The children and youth classes will begin meeting Sunday morning, September 7th.
LADIES MONDAY NIGHT BIBLE STUDY - begins once again this Monday, August 11th at 6:30 pm. The study will be looking at “Joy: A Study of Philippians” by Deb Burma. All ladies are welcome to join us. Please purchase your book prior to meeting as there is reading to do ahead of time.
LUTHERAN WITNESS SUBSCRIPTIONS - If you are not yet receiving this LCMS monthly magazine and would like to, please contact Brent Nutter or Pastor Slater to get put on the subscription list. Also, anyone needing to make an address change, please let us know before the August 15th deadline.
CHURCH MAILBOXES - Reminder to check your new church mailbox which are located in the fellowship hall by the coat rack. To find your specific mailbox, please check the laminated sheets by the mailboxes.
MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS AND PARENTS - We will be starting midweek Catechism classes for our middle school youth on Wednesday, September 3rd. This will be for all those students entering 6th and 7th grades. Pastor Slater will be getting more information out later this month.
BOARD of MISSIONS COLLECTION - For August we are collecting items for the Canton Food Bank. Please place your donation in the bin located by the church office. Thank you for your help!
THE AUGUST CALENDAR and NOTES - is ready and you can find your copy in your new church mailbox. To find your mailbox, please check the laminated sheets by the mailboxes.
MORNING MATINS SERVICES - are being offered each Wednesday morning at 9:00 am. We are reading through the Augsburg Confession as a part of these Services. Please join if you can.
GIVING OPPORTUNITIES - As Christians, we love giving. But what if you could not only give to a worthy cause but also receive a state income tax credit for your giving! The State of Kansas has two fairly new tax credit programs that are worth considering. They are:
1)a 75% tax credit for donations to organizations that provide educational scholarships to low income students. In response to this, the Kansas District has set up the Kansas Lutheran School Scholarship Foundation (KLSSF) to receive donations that are eligible for the 75% credit and then distribute those funds to the various LCMS Lutheran schools scattered across the state. You can see Pastor Slater or go to www.klssf.org to donate or to learn more.
2) a 70% tax credit for donations to eligible pregnancy care centers. There are two organizations in Hutchinson (Birthright and Open Door Pregnancy Care Center) plus the Hope Women’s Center in Newton that are eligible to receive donations qualifying for this tax credit. Again, see Pastor Slater if you have any questions.
MOWERS NEEDED - The sign-up sheet for mowing the church yard and the cemetery can be found on the bulletin board in the narthex. The church yard and cemetery are separate lines to help keep it from being such a big job. You can also ask someone else to ‘team up’ with you as far as mowing and the trimming. So please consider signing up if you are able to help at all. Thanks!
LIVESTREAM HELP - We are needing to train a third person on live streaming for Sunday Adult Bible Study and Worship service time. There are some dates coming up in March, May and June that we will need coverage for. Please contact Brent or Tanner for details. This would involve setting up the iPad, logging onto Facebook and our church website, copying and pasting some links, maybe adjusting some volumes during the worship service periodically. We would also show you how to set up the video camera and amplifier for use with the Fellowship Hall TV / Sound System.
PRIVATE CONFESSION & ABSOLUTION - Pastor Slater will be available in his office, for any individuals who would like to have private Confession and Absolution in preparation for receiving Holy Communion, from 9:00am to Noon, each Saturday prior to the Sundays in which the Lord’s Supper will be celebrated. This is of course voluntary and not required for receiving Communion. Just an opportunity to further prepare your heart and mind for anyone who might so desire. Any questions, please let Pastor know.
JULY - SEPTEMBER PORTALS OF PRAYER - (including large-print) can be found on the shelf in the narthex.
MY DEVOTIONS - for June through August can be found in the narthex. These devotionals are great for our grade school and middle school youth in helping them to grow in their faith and connecting Jesus to their daily lives.

+ For Ralph Vogts and family at the death of Ralph’s sister, Barbara Wollberg.
+ For those who battle addictions and/or are incarcerated, that they may know the peace and hope that only Jesus can give.
